The Bureau of Crime Statistic and Research (BOCSAR), established in 1969, is a statistical and research agency within the New South Wales Attorney General's Department. The Bureau collets and publishes crime and court statistics and conducts research into criminal justice issues. The main aim is to identify factors that affect the distribution and frequency of crime and the factors that affect the effectiveness, efficiency or equity of the NSW criminal justice system.
By meeting these objectives the Bureau can assist policy makers and administrators in the criminal justice system to develop and implement strategies which reduce crime, and provide a more efficient, effective and equitable justice system.
In particular, a report presenting data on crime reported to or detected by the NSW Police Force from January 2004 to December 2006, has been recently published. The title is
