TITLE |
TECHNOCRIME: TECHNOLOGY CRIME AND SOCIAL CONTROL |
|
ABSTRACT |
In this book, the term technocrime includes all crimes committed on or with computers, as stated in the standard agreed-upon definition of cybercrime, but goes well beyond this to convey the idea that technology enables an entirely new way of committing, combating and even thinking about criminality in all its aspects. The text differs from books which deal exclusively which cybercrime in that it takes a broader approach and understanding of the scope of the impact of technology on crime and most importantly crime control. Different chapters in this book cover specific technologies, such as the use of video surveillance or of social networks and alternative reality games like SecondLife, but the book as a whole aims to providing a whole new perspective and theoretical foundation for the study and understanding of the relationship between crime and technology today. || |
