TITLE |
DICTIONARY OF PROBATION AND OFFENDER MANAGEMENT |
|
ABSTRACT |
Contemporary probation practice is developing rapidly, becoming increasingly professionalized. This Dictionary focuses on probation and offender management in England and Wales, where the creation of NOMS (National Offender Management Service) has broadened the remit of the Probation Service and has also introduced a new set of ideas and concepts into the established probation lexicon. || The Dictionary is designed to meet the needs of both practitioners and higher education students, offering definitions of approximately 200 entries (arranged alphabetically) on key terms - concepts, ideas, institutions, legal and organizational arrangements - as well as challenges, methods and practices involved in working with offenders in the community. || The entries include summary definition, main text and key texts and sources. They were contributed by leading academic and practitioners in probation and offender management. || || |
