The book begins by providing a thorough historical overview of the development of the study of criminology and of its sources and different levels of interpretation. || The author addresses the need for a reorganization and a systematization of the subject, taking into account many different aspects of modern criminology such as the various criminogenic factors, the issues of crime prevention and treatment of offenders, organized crime and juvenile justice. The second section of the book deals primarily with issues of methodology and research techniques, taking into consideration the steps which need to be taken in order to produce an effective research project in the field of criminology. ||
