A Stronger UN for a Better World
Turin, September 2007. The United Nations Secretary-General convened a retreat of his top managers in Turin from 31 August to 2 September coordinated by UN Secretariat, the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with the generous support of the City of Turin and the Region of Piemonte.
The main goal of the retreat, which took place at Valentino Politecnico University, was to give the team the opportunity to exchange ideas, reflect on experiences to date and discuss the future challenges.
The retreat was attended by some 50 Under Secretaries-General and Assistant Secretaries-General and the Executive Heads of UNDP, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP.
"A Stronger UN for a Better World" was the spirit of the retreat.
During the retreat the Secretary General visited the UN Campus which hosts the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO), the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
