UNICRI launches the first University Campus in Rome associated with the United Nations

Rome, 11 June 2009. UNICRI - United Nations Interregional Crime Research Institute – the Institute of the United Nations established in 1968 to assist intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organizations in formulating and implementing improved policies in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, is expanding its training activity by opening a new Office at Pomezia University Campus, near Rome, dedicated to advanced training, applied research and technical assistance.

Thanks to an agreement signed by UNICRI with the University of Rome-Sapienza, Ce.A.S. (Centre for Advanced Studies on Terrorism and Political Violence) and the Consorzio for the University of Pomezia, Pomezia Campus will be the only University Campus in Rome associated to the United Nations where post graduated courses, specialized training courses and Master courses will be taught.

The training programme will take off at the beginning of July with the International Summer School on Fundamental Rights organized by UNICRI from July 1st to July 7th, 2009. This course aims to provide students and young professionals with a comprehensive understanding and a detailed perspective on economic, legal and social aspects related to fundamental rights in the European Law.

The press conference for the launch of the UN University Campus will take place on June 11, at 10.30am at the Sala Stampa Estera, Via dell’Umiltà, 83/c, Rome with the presence of:
