Seminar on Tourism Security - A Roadmap for Cooperation

Lisbon, 20 June 2012. The seminar is organized by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) Office in Lisbon, in cooperation with the Higher Institute of Police Science and Internal Security (ISCPSI) and with the support of the Organisation of Security and Co-operation in Europe.

The main objectives of the seminar are to stimulate discussion between the public and private sectors, to share good security practices and experiences and to contribute to strategic thinking in the field of tourism security from a multi-sectoral partnership perspective, all in view of exploring new possibilities of joint action that go beyond current prevention strategies.

The event will envisage the participation of high-level representatives from national and local institutions as well as international experts on terrorism and the protection of vulnerable targets, in particular from the UN World Tourism Organization and from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Other speakers will include public authority representatives from the Public Security Police, security directors responsible for the protection of vulnerable targets, and representatives from other Member States, namely the Japanese Embassy in Portugal.

The initiative is part of the UNICRI programme on public-private security policies.
