Space-Enabled Applications for the Mining Sector

About the event
The mining industry is undergoing transformational changes. The global nature of satellites makes them perfect tool to provide timely and relevant insights about the world around us.
European Space Agency, Satellite Applications Catapult and UNICRI are organizing this workshop to demonstrate the benefits of space in the mining sector, promote new relevant opportunities, and discuss the use of satellite technologies to improve operations along the mining supply chain, whilst empowering local communities and reducing environmental degradation.
The workshop will present the main challenges faced today by mining sector stakeholders. There will be a showcase to discuss the potential of space technologies and assets to address those challenges. This event aims at creating a community and networking opportunities between stakeholders in the mining industry and innovators developing solutions using space.
The workshop will address:
- Monitoring and Improving Mining Operations, Facilitating Social Engagement in Mining, Safety and Security of the Mining Supply Chain, Environmental Monitoring, Funding Opportunities for the Mining activities.
- Case studies from the mining and law enforcement sectors.
- Showcases of space-enabled projects and Feasibility Studies.
Participants will have an opportunity to Network and to join the Mining Community, which will draw together the mining industry and innovators developing solutions using space.
