On 7 May 2014, Eurojust hosted its Counter Terrorism Team (CTT) meeting, in its headquarters in the Hague, The Netherlands. The main topic of the meeting was UNICRI's Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation and Security Governance Programme and potential opportunities for cooperation on a number of issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was chaired by the President of Eurojust Ms Michèle Coninsx, and attended by the members of the CTT. The UNICRI was represented by the Head, CBRN and Security Governance Programme Mr Francesco Marelli, and Senior Strategy and Policy Advisor, Mr Irakli Beridze.
Both organisations presented their activities in accordance to their mandates in the area of CBRN and security, and identified cross-cutting issues and relevant areas for further cooperation.
Eurojust is an EU body dealing with judicial co-operation in criminal matters. Eurojust stimulates and improves the coordination of investigations and prosecutions between the competent authorities in the Member States and improves the cooperation between the competent authorities of the Member States, in particular by facilitating the execution of international mutual legal assistance and extradition requests.
